Butler Center for Arkansas Studies is housed in the Arkansas Studies Institute (ASI) which is a collaborative project between University of Arkansas at Little Rock and Central Arkansas Library System (CALS). The ASI is on the campus of the CALS Main Library Branch in the River Market Area of Little Rock. Many educator materials are online at the Butler Center website and many Arkansas history teachers are familiar with the online Encyclopedia of Arkansas History and Culture. Bland oversees the ADE approved professional development activities sponsored by the Butler Center/ASI/CALS. She also conducts educator workshops on how teachers may use books including Butler Center publications and online resources to teach Arkansas History.

Known as Dr. K by her many colleagues, she is the retired supervisor of school libraries in PCSSD. She still works in school librarianship as the practical field experience coordinator in UCA’s LIBM Program.
